If you follow my blog you are probably saying, "Didn't he just have a recital?" Well, the answer is yes! His teacher is going to be moving so I decided to look for a new teacher. I talked to Lori at church and she had some openings so he started lessons with her the first week of April. On his first lesson, she told him she was going to be having a recital soon. He said he wanted to play in it and had a piece all ready from his last recital. The recital was at the Piano Gallery in Roy. It was so great! He did a great job! Way to go Braden! Keep up the good work!

He had to do a book report on a fairy tale! He decided to do Stone Soup. He had to make a poster and put his head and arms through the holes. He then had to present the poster to his class with his poster! He did a great job and had a lot of fun making the poster!

Happy Birthday to you! Braden is now officially nine years old! It is hard to believe!

Braden is a very kind boy and always tries to make sure everyone is included. He loves, loves, loves to read! He can't get enough of it! He has a very catching laugh! His older cousins think he laughs and talks like a chipmunk! He prefers to be Simon not Alvin! He is a good big brother! We love him very much! Happy Birthday, Braden! WE LOVE YOU!

We invited the family to come and celebrate Braden's birthday. Grandma and Grandpa Hawk, Grandpa Madsen, Uncle Dusty, Aunt Marilyn, Drew, Isaac, Eli and Drew and Emily Roska were all able to come celebrate with us! We had a fun afternoon! The kids enjoyed playing with each other! It was a nice day, so they played outside most of the time!

A Walk Down Memory Lane

Summer 1981

When I was seven years old my family moved from Page, Arizona to Mancos, Colorado. Both of my parents are from Colorado and they really wanted to move back there. My Dad bought 3 acres of land near Mesa Verde National Park. We spent the summer building our future home. We lived in our tent trailer and had an outhouse. We went to the campground that was about a half a mile away to have a shower every night. Finally in the fall we moved in the the shell of the house. Anyway my Dad e-mailed me these pictures and I couldn't help but post them.

Spring Storm!

I just had to get a picture of this crazy spring storm. This is not snow it is hail! It was coming down so hard and fast! It was crazy!

I was busy working about 1 pm when the power went out! I figured it would come back on soon, after about 30 min I called the power company. They said a power pole had caught on fire. I am assuming it was from lightning! Anyway, we didn't have power restored until about 5 pm. My van was parked in the garage and Wayne was at track practice, so I didn't have a car and no way to make dinner. So, I called God Father's Pizza and had them deliver some pizza to our house. This is the first time we have ever had pizza delivered. Sarah, Kaylee (her friend) and I spent a quiet afternoon listening to the rain, coloring, reading and watching this crazy storm.

They had the fire truck come during the bike rodeo! The kids had a blast riding their bikes through the course and then playing on the fire truck!

The kids were making balloon faces with Braden's Peem glasses. (Peem is Braden's imaginary friend. He has been around a long time. One day Braden came out of his room with these glasses on and said he was Peem.)

Wayne had this extra hoodie from track last year and the kids all wanted to try it on! I think they have a while before it will fit them.

About a year ago I was giving Wayne a haircut when I found a very large bump on the back of his head. I was a little alarmed so I called the doctor and got him an appointment for that day. The doctor told us it was a Lipoma, which is a fatty benign tumor. It has been bothering him a little lately so he wanted to have it removed. He went to a dermatologist. The doctor told me it would take about and hour for the whole procedure. When an hour had passed I got a little worried. After about an hour and a half he was finally done. The doctor said it was pretty deep and he had to do some digging to get it all out. He has several stitches inside and some on the outside. When we got home I told him he looked like a wouded soldier with that bandage on his head. He has to wear this nice bandage on the back of his head for two days. Needless to say Wayne has a pretty good headache. His is glad to have gone though!

More Spring Break!

April 8-10, 2010

Grandma and Grandpa Hawk came home from Arizona the first week of April, so we were able to spend some time with them during Spring Break. We had a great time! Tyler bought some kites at the store in his classroom, so we took them to Delta where the wind always blows and there is plenty of space to fly.

Sarah has been dying to shovel snow! Last week we had a few flurries and she wanted to go out and shovel. I had to explain to her that there was nothing to shovel. She was excited to see the snow this morning!


I am sure this is just what Wayne wanted to do on his Spring Break!
